Which guitar should i buy?.plz help?

i am a complete beginner though i can read acoustic and b tabs(except the ledger lines).i have always been attracted to the b.i have heard that an acoustic guitar is the best beginner guitar.is this true or just an old myth?.please clear my doubt..can i directly go with the b?..
