Is it safe to sign up with btjunkie?

I have never signed up with a website to download torrents, so I'm wary of whether or not it's a good idea. I'm not talking about whether or not I'm safe from viruses, because I know the risks, I just don't know whether or not it's a good idea to give my email address to one of these websites.
