Improper use of Disability Placard. Legal Help?

i went to the beach on a day where it was really not crowded and used my moms disability placard. later as i was getting into the car a beach cop saw me and wrote me a ticket. Im a good student and have never had any parking tickets, or any problems with the law what so ever. now i am clearly guilty. but on the ticket its checked traffic and misdemeanor. does this mean im likely to have a criminal record because of this? im very worried about this.
