Have microbiologists stumbled on to a flaw in the evolutionary theory?

One of our successful evolutionary traits is to observe and note patterns. This helps us in all kinds of ways. Finding food, avoiding injuries. But we over-rotate when we infer an intrelligent agency from a pattern. A great example of this are the 40,000 interlocking geometrically shaped basalt columns of the Giant's Causeway. The columns looked so geometrically perfect it was umed to have been a staircase carved by giants, when in fact the formations have since been proven completely natural in origin.
