Finishing a tattoo. Any Ideas?

I have a "tramp stamp" of my initials, JMC, outlined in black. I wish I had a picture, but I'll try to explain. Its kind of a mirror image. The J looks like the C with the M in the middle. Confusing anyone? Well, I know I want to get the letters shaded so you can tell what it is better, but I just wondered if I should add more to it, like color. I know I will eventually get more tattoos, but I want to finish this one first.
